Vet Med Animal Hospital is a locally owned, full-service veterinary hospital located at 2901 Kaliste Saloom Road in Lafayette, LA—between Ambassador Caffery and E. Broussard Road. Founded in 2011 by Dr. Scott Tate, DVM, we provide medical, surgical, and preventive care for dogs, cats, and exotic pets throughout Lafayette and the surrounding Acadiana area.

What makes Vet Med Animal Hospital different from other veterinary clinics in Lafayette?
K
L

As a single-doctor practice, we're able to offer a level of continuity and personalized attention that's harder to find at larger clinics. Dr. Tate knows his patients by name. We also perform orthopedic surgeries in-house, including extracapsular repairs, which many local hospitals refer elsewhere. Our on-site laboratory and pharmacy allow us to diagnose and treat without unnecessary delays.

Is Vet Med Animal Hospital locally owned?
K
L
Yes. Vet Med Animal Hospital has been owned and operated by Dr. Scott Tate since we opened in 2011. We're a Lafayette institution—not a corporate chain—and our decisions are always made with our patients and community in mind.
Do you see exotic pets in addition to dogs and cats?
K
L
We do. In addition to dogs and cats, our team cares for a variety of exotic pets, with a special focus on small mammals such as guinea pigs, rabbits (bunnies), and rats. We also provide care for other exotic pets, including birds, lizards, and snakes. If you're unsure whether we can care for your specific pet, give us a call and we'll be happy to help.
Are you accepting new clients?
K
L

Yes, we welcome new clients and their pets. You can reach us by phone, submit our online form, or email us at vetmed@vetmedanimalhospital.com to get started. We recommend completing our online New Client Form ahead of your first appointment to help our team prepare for your pets’ individual needs.

We also accept same-day urgent care appointments, walk-ins, and drop-offs during regular business hours.

What areas do you serve?

L

Our primary location is in Lafayette, LA, and we regularly see patients from Youngsville, Broussard, Maurice, Milton, Scott, and other communities throughout the Acadiana region.
